Helen MacDonald & Reed Siemieniuk

Whether you are skeptical of guidelines, use them, would like to understand them better, or to make them, you are welcome at our session. We know clinicians like guidance, but we also know that some guidelines have problems. We will offer you the chance to use different types of evidence and formats to decide whether to recommend someone with a sore throat a one off prescription of oral steroids. Along the way we will offer you some insight into how to make a guideline, and the work we have done to make some guidelines faster, more user friendly and trustworthy.

Helen Macdonald has been a clinical editor at the BMJ since 2008, works on Evidence Live and its Evidence Manifesto, and is a GP.
Reed Siemieniuk is a physician and methodologist in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology  and Biostatistics, McMaster University, Canada.

Helen and Reed are part of a bigger not for profit team at MAGIC, who are collaborating with The BMJ on Rapid Recommendations project.
